How to qualify for a PEI PNP

Eligibility for PEI Express Entry Stream
  • Must have an Express Entry profile
  • Must be eligible for one of the three main federal economic class immigration programs that is Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
  • If you have a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) or a spousal open work permit,
    • Your PGWP must have a minimum four months validity at the time you submit your Expression Of Interest.
    • Must have studied outside of Prince Edward Island (or be a spouse to someone who studied outside PEI).
    • Minimum nine months of relevant work experience under a PEI employer.

Eligibility for PEI Labour Impact Category

Skilled Worker Stream

This stream is for workers who have a valid job offer from a PEI employer. The eligibility criteria for this stream:

  • Age between 21 and 59 years.
  • A full-time permanent or minimum two-year valid job offer from a PEI employer in an eligible position.
  • Proof of funds to settle in PEI.
  • Willing to reside permanently in PEI.
  • Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4.
  • The job offer must fall under NOC level 0, A or B.
  • Minimum two-year post-secondary degree or diploma.
  • Minimum two years of full-time work experience in the past five years.
  • Hold a valid work permit if you live in Canada.
  • If you live outside Canada, you must have legal status in your country of residence.

Critical Worker Stream

  • Age between 21 and 59 years.
  • A full-time permanent or minimum two-year valid job offer from a PEI employer in an eligible position.
  • Proof of funds to settle in PEI.
  • Willing to reside permanently in PEI.
  • Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4.
  • The job offered must be for the position of a truck driver, customer service representative, labourer, food and beverage server, or housekeeping attendant.
  • Minimum six months full-time work experience for the PEI employer.
  • Hold a work permit in Canada.
  • Must have at least a high school education.
  • Minimum two years of work experience or relevant education in the past five years.

International Graduate Stream

  • Age between 21 and 59 years.
  • A full-time permanent or minimum two-year valid job offer from a PEI employer in an eligible position.
  • Proof of funds to settle in PEI.
  • Willing to reside permanently in PEI.
  • Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4.
  • The job offered must fall under NOC level 0, A or B.
  • Minimum six months of work experience for the PEI employer in a position that is related to your education;
  • Hold a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit.
  • Graduated, and received a post-secondary degree or diploma from an eligible PEI learning institution.

Eligibility for PEI Business Impact Category

The Business Impact Category has only one stream – the Work Permit Stream. This stream is for those who wish to invest in a PEI business. Eligibility to apply under this stream:

  • Age between 21 and 59 years.
  • Minimum net worth of CAD $600,000.
  • Completed at least secondary education.
  • Have transferable management skills or business ownership skills.
  • Minimum CLB level of 4.
  • Must intend to permanently reside and work in PEI.
  • Actively manage the proposed business from within PEI.

Does Prince Edward Island PNP require a job offer?

Working in PEI certainly increases your chances of getting a provincial nomination but there are other streams that do not require a job offer. 

The Express Entry category allows you to apply for Prince Edward Island PNP without a valid job offer. To qualify for a provincial nomination via the PEI PNP Express Entry stream, you need a Federal Express Entry profile and meet the requirements of one of the programs present under the express entry system.

Is it easy to get PR in Prince Edward Island?

There are two easy methods to apply for permanent residency through the Prince Edward Island PNP.
